Wild Atlantic Way
From Malin Head in Co. Donegal to Kinsale in Co. Cork, through regions such as Connemara, Galway Bay and Kerry, the wild Atlantic Way is the longest defined coastal drive in the world stretching for 2,500 km (1,500 miles) along Ireland’s western seaboard.
Located on the Wild Atlantic Way just 40 minutes from Dingle, the location of The Anvil ideal offers many activities, many of which are of walking distance.
Walking / Hill Climbing / Mountaineering
The Anvil is an ideal base for the experienced and the relaxed walker as we are located at the foot of the Slieve Mish Mountains – an area renowned for its remote and off road hiking.
 
Carrantouhill is the highest peak in the MacGillycuddy Reeks with walks such as the Lisleibane and Cronin’s Yard looped walks in the famous Hags Glen.
 
The Dingle Way is a long distance circular walking route of 179km circumnavigating the Dingle Peninsula west of Tralee in County Kerry.The Dingle Way walking route skirts the mountains of the Slieve Mish range, which form the spine of this 65km long peninsula, jutting into the Atlantic Ocean. The walking route usually taken is Tralee, Castlegregory, Cloghane ,Ballydavid, Dunquin ,Dingle, Annascaul, Camp returning to Tralee.
 
The Kerry Way which is Ireland’s premiere long distance walking route winding its way through Glencar from the Black Valley leading to Glenbeigh.This area offers the most spectacular scenery and dramatic landscapes from mountains to lakes and rivers. Nearby we have mountain passes such as the Short Mountain Road and Bothar Na gCloch providing elevated views over the entire area of Tralee Bay, Inch Beach and Castlemaine Harbour.
 
Killarney National Park comprises of 10,000 hectares of mountains, woods and lakes and has a network of tracks for the walker in the Muckross, Knockreer and Ross Island areas. A visit to Muckross House and its Gardens and Muckross Traditional Farm is a must for any visitor.
 
Swimming / Sandy Beaches / Windsurfing
Visit the Aqua Dome in Tralee which is one of Ireland’s most exciting indoor water world with fun features for all ages from kiddies pools and sky high slides through to its raging rapids and exclusively adult health suites.
 
Inch Beach; This beach is a Blue Flag Beach and you can swim, wind- surf or hang-glide or simply relax there. It has served as the back drop for Hollywood films such as “Ryan’s Daughter”, “The Playboy of the Western World” and more recently ‘Star Wars”.
There are many beautiful beaches in Kerry of which some of the above have been named but many more can be found in the Tralee Bay area and the Dingle Peninsula.
 
Golf
Ireland is renowned for its beautiful golf courses where many of them are situated beside flowing rivers, lakes and mountains. We in Kerry have some of the most outstanding golf courses/links in Ireland.

Fishing
The Anvil is a fisherman’s base in Kerry where the experienced and not so experienced fisherman can enjoy our well stocked rivers and lakes. At the Anvil anglers will find a tackle room, drying room and freezer facilities.
The rivers Laune, the Flesk and Roughty in Kerry and the Bandon, the Lee and the Blackwater rivers in Cork are renowned as salmon rich rivers. Lough Lein in Killarney is open from February to October for brown trout, salmon and sea trout fishing.
Caragh Lake is renowned for brown trout fishing.

Enjoy horse trekking along our beautiful beaches and relax and enjoy the experience.
Times and availability can be arranged with a local equestrian centre in Milltown or a information guide can be provided for other centres in Kerry.

Visit Killarney town and Killarney National Park where a trip on a jaunting car is one of the towns main visitor attractions.
Jaunting trips from Kate Kearneys Cottage through the Gap of Dunloe are also available.

Crag Cave
Located in Castleisland off the N21, discovered in 1983 and thought to be 1 million years old.
 
Crag Caves is a magical wonderland of stalagmites & stalactites which also includes a gift shop, restaurant and ‘crazy play’ area for children.
